I have a legitimate Windows Vista Ultimate Edition license with the computer I purchased from Dell, but I lost the CD at some point and needed to format so I just downloaded an OEM edition from the internet and formatted my computer using it and installed it.
Can I purchase a Windows 7 Upgrade License from a store, or do I need to buy a full license? Kinda sucks given that I basically just lost my DVD. =/
I'm a bit lost to your question - You bought a legitimate copy of Windows Vista pre-installed on your computer, yet you reformated your coem download storeomputer with a OEM edition which you downloaded from the internet? I dont understand this, surely does not downloading and reformatting your computer to install Vista now mean you are using a pirated illegal version of it? I dont understand what you are asking.
You might be eligable for an upgrade... But I recommend just reformatting your computer with a full (most likely OEM) license.
Hi there,
My advice is to buy a full installation of windows 7 Premium and just do a clean install.
Upgrades do not always work as well as the complete installoem download store.
Also download Win 7 drivers for all your hardware and burn to CD or flash drive since there is bound to be some hardware needing a driver.
Enjoy Win 7,
Al
If u have a cover of that licensed DVD then show it to upgrade.but it should be in licensed period.U can also show purchase receipt.every user has unique bar code on his DVD cover u can recover ur lost information of ur software. But u lost ur DVD cover also u have to purchase full copy of windows7.
If u registered at the time of buying u can also find ur info on company website.
