Longest running car company in America, still going!
Longest was Oldsmobile Aug - 21 - 1897, they are done now, Toyota bought the rights for for the Oldsmobile name though and could resurrect Oldsmobile back to life. Next in line the Cadillac Aug - 22 - 1902, first car out Oct - 17 - 1902, driven by Alanson P. Brush. Next in line Buick, incorporated May - 19 - 1903. Next in line Ford, Jun - 16 - 1903. That means Cadillac is the longest running Automobile Company in America!
Oldsmobile is still ahead at the year 2008, Oldsmobile lasted 107 years even thoamerica car companyugh they stopped production years ago, (1897-2004), Cadillac will be next in line, then Buick, then Ford (built by the Dodge Brothers).
Oldsmobile was first, but they stopped making them a few years ago, so it would be GM because they make Oldsmobile.
If you don't count GM as a car company, then Ford is the longest running.
Many people believe that Ford is the first American car because of the way History Textbooks talk about Henry Ford, but it is not.
Well, if you'd asked thamerica car companyis a couple of years ago, it would have been Oldsmobile, founded in 1897 and the third longest running carmaker in the world, but since they are now discontinued, it's Ford, founded June 16, 1903.
The longest lived car company is Ford, they just celebrated a centennial in 2003. This is evidenced by the centennial packages that were on Explorer, Expedition, F150, Superduty, Mustang, Taurus and even Focus.
FORD - still going after 105 years.
Ford or Buick.
